VALIDATION OF AIDS TO NAVIGATION FOR VIZHINJAM PORT - KERALA
Validation of Aids to Navigation for Vizhinjam Port, Kerala
The Government of Kerala (GoK) through its special purpose government company Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL) is developing a deep-water multipurpose Greenfield Port at Vizhinjam. VISL, established as a nodal agency for implementing the Greenfield port at Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala’s capital, is fully owned by the Government of Kerala.
Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited (AVPPL) was awarded the project for the development and operation of Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport. The project, developed under Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) mode, was planned to be completed in four phases. Phase I was scheduled to be completed by December 2019.
In this context, AVPPL through its Independent Engineers STUP Consultants Private Limited (STUP), commissioned us to carry out validation of Aids to Navigation for Vizhinjam Port, Kerala with respect to IALA guidelines. The aim was to provide engineering consultancy services for these objectives, principally for:
- Review of navigation buoys with respect to number and luminosity
- Review of lighthouses, beacons and leading lights
- Requirement of cardinal buoys if any
- Requirement of E-navigation
- Confirm the adequacy of the layout with respect to IALA guidelines.
The assignment was completed, and the report was submitted to the client on 11th May 2019.
